This is my Mom. She would have turned 100 today.
She was a small woman with sharp bird-like eyes. She would sat on the edge of a chair or sofa so her legs could touch the ground. Her back was always very straight but she’d point at you with twisted arthritic fingers.
She had a habit of “adopting” people into her family. She was a great listener.
She was always soft-spoken. She was so soft-spoken that when she took Dad to the ER (he was having a heart attack), the doctors and nurses ignored her for several minutes. But she was always persistent. And the hardest working person I know.
I’ll let her tell her story (parts are missing; I’m hunting for a better copy):

I listened to your mom’s testimony and it spoke to my heart. Thank you for sharing this awesome testimony of God’s grace and provision.

Loved listening, unfortunately a big chunk is missing so didn’t get the part of where they went after China how her husband died and where. Very inspiring!

Thanks Ken. This brings tears to my eyes. She adopted me, and I still remember (among other things), standing in your living room with her and you as she challenged you to set up this blind date for me (even though I wasn’t really interested in dating at the time). That blind date turned out to be Fran, my wife all these years. If you could email me this clip of her speaking, I’d like to keep it.
Thank You
Bill

I just came across this testimony when I googled Mildred’s name. It was so good to hear her voice again. Our family was one of those she ‘adopted’. I called her my Taiwan mom. She showed me the feminine side of God’s character. We were missionaries in Taiwan from 1975 to 1985, so I got to know her for many years. She left Taiwan one year before we did and I kept in contact with her until she died.
